FMCSA Updates
Effective June 23rd, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) will transition to a fully electronic system for processing medical examinations for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders. Medical Examiners will submit exam results directly to the FMCSA, which will then forward the information to State Driver’s Licensing Agencies (SDLAs). As a result, CDL drivers will no longer need to carry or submit paper copies of their medical certificates.
Non-CDL drivers, however, will still be required to carry a valid paper Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card).
